OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, I’ve noticed that others have an interest in the things that I like, more specifically, the stuff that I buy, services I use… and the causes I support. I’ve been asked many times “why this” and “how about that…” in short, my opinion matters a lot to some (*tee hee*) people , and that’s what this is for.

I was originally going to release Bradtastic’s Top Five,” a series of lists covering all of my “categories of interest.” I realized after jotting the beginnings of these lists down in a Moleskine pocketbook that—there’s way more than five things—this would be a serious task.

To make a simple blog entry stating any-single “top five category” really wouldn’t be significant-enough (I blog about how I sometimes don’t feel well), to list all categories in one-single-entry would be way too much. The simplest solution that I could think of: make a separate page, and either list stuff here as it comes up, or link back to this explanation from my Tumblr posts.

This is that page.

Simply, if something is “Bradtastic Approved,” it’ something that I use, I’ve used, or really want… and it’s great. From RSS feeds and press-releases, I’ve found some of the best new (sometimes free) startups and services, beta web apps and software. From department stores to Sunset Blvd., I’ve found some of the most fashionable apparel and accessories… and after ten years of tech, I can surely pick out electronic goodies.

I’ll leave it to others to “rate” these finds; I’m not the only one with the knowledge of the good stuff and I don’t like wasting time, but I will explain what I like about whatever I recommend, and why I think it’s important to others.

The best recommendation I can make: always carry a pen and a Moleskine notebook. Life is interesting, and many interesting things happen in short periods of time. Digital input is slow—a Palm Pilot cannot keep up with the hand. Also-sometimes, it’ll be used to give or get a phone number or email address, other times, to write down a model number or website… or the name of a good book.

I never know when I’ll need a pen, so I just make sure that I always have one (and something to write on).

Worthy of being Bradtastic Approved…
